Rock music has long since been characterized by 4/4 time with heavy emphasis on beat numbers 2 and 4. This means that the division of the beats is a repeating sequence of 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4 etc...
However, in the true spirit of rock and roll rebellion a lot of bands have defied this "rule" with massively successful songs with odd beat divisions (aka odd meter or odd time signatures) of 5/4 (1 2 3 4 5), 7/4 (1 2 3 4 5 6 7) and even mixed meter time signatures like 1 2 3 4 and 1 2 3 as an example.
Have I confused you yet? LOL!
Don't worry. Because on this week's Loudini Rock & Roll Circus podcast we will explain it all as we tell you about 10 bands who released massively successful songs with odd time signatures.

So back in 2007 I saw that there was a new song by Foo Fighters call "The Pretender". Knowing Dave Grohl's love of classic rock, I assumed that it was a remake of the classic Jackson Browne song from 1976. I was excited to hear their take on one of my favorite songs. Imagine my shock and confusion when I finally heard the song and it WAS NOT the Jackson Browne song!
I really don't understand why Dave Grohl would do this. Has he ever heard the Jackson Browne song? It's terribly confusing. The Foo Fighter song is a great song in it's own right but I can't help but think that they should have called it something else; not only to avoid confusing old classic rockers like me but out or respect to one rock's greatest songwriters.
There are a lot of different songs with the same names and I don't know about your but these "musical homonyms" frustrate me.
On this week's Loudini Rock and Roll Circus podcast we will tell you all about 10 different Musical Homonyms that you may not be aware of... some of them even cross genres. Don't worry... we will help you make sense of it all. After all, we are professionals!

After the release of Sheer Heart Attack, Queen was broke. Roger Taylor couldn't even get enough for a small downpayment on a flat for his new family. Realizing that something needed to be done and done quick, the band changed management and got themselves free from bad business dealings.
Their manager John Reid told them to just get in the studio and make the best album that they could and that he would square their financials.
The resulting album was nothing short of monumental. While the songs moved through several genres , they all had that unmistakeable Queen sound.
On this week's Loudini Rock & Roll Circus we will give you the lowdown on making of this classic album as well discuss it's legacy. We will also tell you once and for all how Queen got their unique vocal sound.

A couple of weeks ago I read an article about Wolf Van Halen taking shots on Twitter for not wanting to play his father's music.
These "twitter twits" were trying to guilt Wolf into playing his dad's songs on tour and the man is just not having it.
I love Eddie Van Halen. I even did a video arguing why he is the most important (not necessarily the greatest) rock guitarist of all time. I would love to hear Wolf whip out a couple of old Van Halen numbers in concert but that's just not his gig.
Wolf produces his own music. He's trying to carve out his own way. He doesn't want to live in his dad's VERY LONG shadow. I think that we can all understand that. Even if he did some kind of tribute to his dad, there would be those who would say that he was just riding on his dad's coat tails.
I am sure that many of the kids of classic rock era musicians deal with the same thing sooner or later.
On this week's Loudini Rock & Roll Circus podcast we will tell you all about the trials and tribulations of the offspring of classic rockers who try to make their own way in the music business.
We also welcome back Hal Aaron Cohen, host of Tales of The Road Warriors Podcast. Hal has a lot of rock and roll knowledge and he's freakin' HILARIOUS!

Let's face it... there are just some songs that are better when they're covered by some one else.
I don't think that there is much argument, that Hendrix did "All Along the Watchtower" better than Dylan. Well... that's sort of not fair... I mean, everyone does Dylan better than Dylan!
Bet that as it may...
On this week's Loudini Rock & Roll Circus... we will tell you all about 10 cover that are (possibly) better than the originals

Many bands and artists have changed their sound in order to become more mainstream and get more success. It's an all too common unfortunate problem with the music business.
However, there are those bands that have stuck to their guns since the beginning. They continued (and in some cases still continue) to make the music they want in the way that they want to make it 🤘😉
On this week's Loudini Rock & Roll Circus podcast we will be telling you all about 10 bands who never compromised in order to "sellout"
