On Friday 7/17/21 a vehicle caught fire at my auto repair shop, Lombardi Auto Body & Repair.
No one was hurt.
The city of Washington Fire Department got it under control and saved my business.
So far it looks like we only lost two vehicles but there is major damage to our paint building. It's going to take a while to sort everything out with insurance etc... but the good news is because it was contained so quickly, we have total use of the rest of our shop and are able to remain open for business.
So in honor of Prometheus's gift to mankind... we will be talking about the hottest rock and metal songs about FIRE!

Ever wonder who or what started "hair metal"?
Most rock historians trace it to the 1983 breakout release from Quiet Riot, Metal Health.
Between MTV and rock radio, the tracks, "Metal Health" and "Cum on Feel the Noize", were inescapable. By the time I got back to school in the fall of 1983 everyone was all one about this "new band" Quiet Riot as they blasted it from boom boxes all over bus stops, play grounds, a school cafeterias.

In 1991 Silence of the Lambs was released to massive critical and commercial acclaim.
Like most people, I went to see it and was completely blown away.
The film is full of very memorable scenes but one of the ones that immediately stuck in my head was the scene where Catherine Martin (the senator's daughter) is driving just before she is abducted by Buffalo Bill.
The lyrics that we hear are:
After all it was a great big world / With lots of places to run to / Yeah, and if she had to die tryin’ / She had one little promise she was gonna keep / Oh yeah, all right / Take it easy, baby / Make it last all night / She was an American girl.
It's freakin' PERFECT and ever since that I scene, I cannot hear "American Girl" without thinking of Catherine Martin rocking out in her car about to become Buffalo Bill's next victim!

In 1975 when KISS released Alive, it was unheard of for a band that didn't have a succession of big hits to release a live album. The sales of Their first 3 studio albums were lukewarm at best and they had virtually no radio support.
The band kept going purely on the strength of their live performances. Live, the blew every other band off the stage and audiences loved them! 🤘
Putting two and two together, the decision was made to try to capture the energy of a live show with a live recording.
This is exactly what Alive did. Within a few months KISS went from working band status to international rock stars.
The rest, as they say, is history... or KISS-tory if you will😉🤘
